Strategic Expansion into the Indian Subcontinent
SEGG Media Group, a global leader in sports, entertainment, and gaming, has made a significant move in the Indian subcontinent by signing a major five-year commercial agreement with the Super League Kerala (SLK). This partnership is valued at over Rs. 100 crore (US$11.6 million) and marks SEGG's first official football league collaboration in the region. The signing ceremony took place at One JLT in Dubai, highlighting the growing importance of the Indian market for international sports media companies.
The agreement positions SEGG and its flagship Sports.com app as the exclusive global commercial and broadcast partner for SLK. This includes several key components:
- Exclusive international streaming rights across all territories
- Integrated gaming and fan engagement products
- Global sponsorship and brand activation rights
- Distribution focus across the Indian subcontinent and MENA, especially targeting the vast Kerala diaspora in the Middle East, North America, and Europe
This partnership is expected to generate substantial revenue through a combination of subscription, advertising, and licensing income. The rollout will begin immediately ahead of the upcoming season, with Season 2 aiming to increase audience reach by 25% compared to Season 1, which attracted nearly 13 million viewers.
