Community Transformation through Educational and Infrastructure Projects

The Rotary Club of Ho has recently completed a series of impactful projects aimed at transforming the educational and infrastructural landscape of the Gbi-Kledzo community in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta region. These initiatives were officially handed over to the Precious Pearls Preparatory School, marking a significant milestone for the local population.

Key Projects Implemented

Among the most notable projects is the establishment of a well-stocked library and an ICT laboratory equipped with modern computers. Additionally, the community received essential facilities such as washrooms, which contribute to improved hygiene and sanitation standards. The club also commissioned a mechanised borehole and provided a 1,000-liter Rambo polytank for water storage. These developments are expected to significantly enhance access to clean and safe water, a fundamental human right that directly impacts health and well-being, particularly for women and children.

The total cost of these projects was estimated at GH₵450,000, reflecting a substantial investment in the community's future. The success of this initiative was made possible through the collaboration between the Rotary Club of Ho and several key partners, including the Rotary Club of Northern Allegheny, the House of Hope Ministry (Ghana and USA), and the Rotary Foundation. This partnership underscores the power of international cooperation in addressing critical needs within local communities.

Enhancing Education and Opportunities

Mr. Maxwell Wallahs Affram, President of the Rotary Club of Ho, emphasized the importance of these projects in enhancing the quality of education. He noted that the renovation and equipping of the computer laboratory and library would provide students with access to digital tools and reading resources, thereby improving learning outcomes and empowering young minds with skills necessary for success in the modern world.

Affram expressed deep gratitude to the partners involved, highlighting their unwavering commitment to service and their belief in the transformative power of education. He also mentioned that the collaborative effort serves as a shining example of what can be achieved when shared visions and international cooperation align.

Community and Institutional Support

Madam Beth Earich, Founder of House of Hope Ministries, praised the Gbi-Kledzo community for its kindness and support, allowing the organization to operate effectively. She highlighted the growth of the Precious Pearls Preparatory School from a small institution to a thriving educational center that now serves many learners. Earich also mentioned the school’s scholarship program, which is reviewed every three years based on community needs, offering financial assistance to struggling families.

In addition to educational initiatives, the House of Hope Ministries is engaged in various projects across Ghana, particularly in the Northern region, where they focus on providing sanitation facilities, water access, skills training, and bible studies to prisoners.

Government and Community Response

Mr. Prosper Kumi, the Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, acknowledged the significance of the projects, stating that they reflect a strong commitment to serving humanity. He emphasized that the new facilities would improve access to potable water and enhance academic performance, pushing learners to achieve beyond their imagination.

Mr. Victor Kweku Kovey, the Hohoe Municipal Director of Education, reiterated the importance of these projects in improving educational outcomes. He stressed that education must address the needs of the people and serve as a tool for development.

Togbe Deh IX, the Chief of Gbi-Kledzo, expressed gratitude to the donors and stakeholders for their contributions. He assured the community that the facilities would be maintained properly to ensure their longevity and continued benefit to the residents.

Conclusion

These projects represent a comprehensive approach to community development, combining educational enhancement with essential infrastructure improvements. Through collaboration and shared vision, the Gbi-Kledzo community has taken a significant step toward a brighter and more sustainable future.
