Expansion into the African Football Market
Roc Nation Sports International (RNSI) has made a significant move by entering the African football market, marking a key step in the agency's global expansion. This decision comes after extensive research and due diligence over the past year, reflecting RNSI’s dedication to making a meaningful and lasting impact on the continent.
The agency’s strategy for Africa centers around forming strong partnerships with key regions across the continent. The goal is not only to develop elite football talent but also to ensure that young athletes have the support they need to succeed at the highest levels of the game. This vision aims to replicate RNSI’s successful global model while maintaining a personalized approach to identifying and nurturing top talent.
One of the clearest signs of this expansion’s significance is the recent recruitment of several promising young players from various African countries. These players, identified for their skills and commitment both on and off the field, come from South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, The Gambia, Guinea, and Zimbabwe.
Newly Signed Players
The current group of signed players includes:
- Neo Bohloko (Striker, South Africa, Kaizer Chiefs)
- Ali Umar (Central Midfielder, Ghana, Koforidua Semper FI FC)
- Joseph Narbi (Winger, Ghana, Benab FC)
- Francis Gomez (Winger, The Gambia, Sibonor United)
- Ifeoluwa Olowoporoku (Attacking Midfielder, Nigeria, Tripple 44)
- Mamadou Diallo (Attacker, Guinea, Al Nasr)
- Tadiwa Chakuchichi (Winger, Zimbabwe, Scotland FC)
- Siyabonga Mabena (Winger/Attacking Midfielder, South Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns)
In addition to these signings, RNSI plans to expand its presence in other regions such as the Ivory Coast and Zambia, with more player acquisitions expected soon.
Insights from RNSI Leadership
Nathan Campbell, RNSI’s Head of Global Recruitment for Football, expressed excitement about the expansion. He highlighted Africa’s potential and the importance of collaboration with local partners to meet the unique needs of African players. Campbell also acknowledged Grant Veitch, RNSI’s Director of Africa recruitment, for his crucial role in executing the expansion.
RNSI first entered the African market in 2021 through a consultancy partnership with Mamelodi Sundowns, a leading African club. That relationship continues to thrive, and recently, Emile Witbooi, one of South Africa’s most promising talents, joined RNSI.
Broader Global Strategy
This expansion follows RNSI’s entry into the South American market in 2023, when it acquired the Brazil-based TFM Agency. This acquisition brought over 100 footballers under RNSI’s umbrella, including Brazilian stars like VinÃcius Jr, Gabriel Martinelli, and Endrick.
Since establishing its London office in 2019, RNSI has grown rapidly, becoming one of the top 10 football agencies globally. It now represents a diverse range of international football stars, including Chris Richards, Federico Dimarco, Luis Henrique, Kerolin, and Malick Fofana.
Future Collaborations
The expansion into Africa reinforces RNSI’s commitment to discovering and developing the next generation of football stars. The agency looks forward to working with various partners and consultants, including Ebanor Sports in The Gambia, Olatunji Okuku in Nigeria, Oscar Guirao in the Ivory Coast, and Sakibu Nuhu in Ghana.
