A Culinary Journey Through Tongyeong with Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube
In the 42nd episode of the real street food documentary Jeon Hyun-moo Plan 2, which aired on Friday, Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube embarked on a memorable trip to Tongyeong. Alongside actor Lee Byung-joon, they explored the city's culinary delights, offering viewers a mix of laughter, warmth, and cultural insights.
The episode began with a visit to Tongyeong’s soul food—Chungmu Gimbap. The trio took part in a street interview before heading to the original restaurant recommended by locals. Their mukbang session was filled with excitement as they praised the squid and Seokmakji, drawing cheers from the audience. Jeon Hyun-moo introduced Lee Byung-joon as his “Eating Friend,” while Lee expressed his anticipation for the meal, joking about being invited to Tongyeong. However, when he learned that the menu included beef tripe, he couldn’t hide his disappointment, claiming he had already eaten it the day before.
Next, the group visited a gopchang (stomach) restaurant where they grilled garlic-seasoned meat over stone instead of charcoal. They tried both grilled daechang and gopchang hot pot, describing the flavors as modern and appealing to younger generations. After the meal, Lee Byung-joon surprised them with a copy of his newly released trot album, sharing a heartfelt story about first love. Jeon Hyun-moo humorously asked if it was about his sister-in-law, but Lee quickly denied it, leading to more laughter.
As the day progressed, the trio concluded their culinary adventure with "Dachi," Tongyeong’s representative food culture. They visited Dachi Alley, where they enjoyed abalone porridge, anchovy sashimi, grilled semi-dried fish, and spicy fish stew. Jeon Hyun-moo praised the semi-dried seafood, calling it the best, while Kwak Tube marveled at the thickness of the raw fish. Jeon Hyun-moo joked that Dongyeop must be wrong, sparking more laughs. Meanwhile, Jeon Hyun-moo reacted dramatically to raw shrimp sashimi, exclaiming that he felt stressed just looking at it, while Kwak Tube teased him about his mouth running.
During the meal, the two shared candid conversations about marriage. Jeon Hyun-moo admitted he wasn’t planning to get married for five years and joked about hosting I Live Alone for 20 years. He also spoke about the pressure to marry by age 35 or 36. Kwak Tube, who initially wanted to marry quickly, responded with a playful warning: “If you don’t get married quickly, you’ll become like me.” In return, Jeon Hyun-moo promised to host Kwak Tube’s wedding if he got married within three years.
The episode wrapped up with the group enjoying a relaxed mukbang, paired with beer and heartfelt conversation. Their warm friendship and shared experiences made for an engaging and heartwarming show.
For those interested in following the journey further, the next episode will feature Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube exploring Daebu Island. The special episode will air on MBN and Channel S at 9:10 p.m. on Friday.
