Thailand Talent Summit Unites 2,000 Top Researchers

Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI), in collaboration with the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Program Management Unit for Human Resources and Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), and the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), is organising "Thailand Talent Summit 2025: Fostering Thailand's Future; Advancing Innovation and National Impact." This major event will bring together over 2,000 Thai researchers including early-career researchers, mid-career researchers, and senior researchers from across the country to exchange knowledge, build academic collaboration networks, and present research and innovations that will drive sustainable national development. The summit will take place from December 11-13, 2025, at the Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall (PEACH), Royal Cliff Beach Hotel Pattaya, Chonburi Province.

Professor Dr Sompong Klaynongsruang, President of Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI), stated: "Thailand Talent Summit 2025 will unite more than 2,000 Thai researchers to build a strong collaborative network. The exchange of knowledge between early-career and senior researchers will be a crucial starting point for developing high-quality research that addresses national challenges and leads to tangible impacts on Thailand's economic and social development in a sustainable manner." The summit aims to promote human resource development in science, research and innovation, develop academic collaboration networks among researchers at all levels, and enhance research capabilities for practical application under the concept of "SRI for All: Science, Research and Innovation for Everyone."

Professor Dr Komgrit Leksakul, Vice President of Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI), said: "Thailand Talent Summit 2025 is more than an annual conference. TSRI envisions it as a 'Hub of Talents' that brings together talented personnel from all sectors researchers, the private sector, and policymakers to meet, exchange ideas, and co-create. This event aims to demonstrate Thailand's serious commitment to investing in 'people' to enhance the country's competitiveness. TSRI views this platform as the beginning of new collaborations that will create tangible connections between laboratory research, policy formulation, and real-world applications. TSRI is ready to serve as a 'Connecting Bridge' in the SRI system across dimensions including connecting funding sources, connecting research agendas that respond to national needs, and connecting networks of talented personnel to work together efficiently."

Dr Punpermsak Aruni, Assistant Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), stated: "The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation has a vision that prioritises 'people' as the most important infrastructure of the country, especially highly specialised personnel in various fields who lead change and drive innovation. This platform is therefore a crucial opportunity to listen to 'Voices from the Field' from these personnel directly, to understand their needs and obstacles they face, whether it's accessing research funding, having rules and regulations conducive to work, or opportunities to collaborate internationally. Data and suggestions from this platform will be extremely important in guiding policy improvements and designing ministry support tools to be flexible, modern, and truly responsive to the needs of the country's 'talented people,' to strengthen and advance the SRI system."

Ms Saowanee Mungsujaritkran, Deputy Executive Director of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), said: "NRCT emphasises human resource development from graduate-level scholarships through promoting high-potential individuals to enter the career path of Science, Research and Innovation (SRI) personnel, working closely with researchers and research units across the country. We view the role of researchers as extending beyond merely producing academic papers they are 'Evidence Generators' critically important for supporting policy decision-making, designing government measures, and creating innovations that can be practically applied to solve societal problems in tangible ways. For highly capable personnel, they often serve as research team leaders, pioneering academic networks, and serving as 'Role Models' for early-career researchers in the SRI system. Empowering and providing space for these personnel to exchange perspectives and experiences with the policy sector, private sector, and civil society through platforms like Thailand Talent Summit 2025 is extremely important, as it will help create mutual understanding and identify clear pathways for research to progress from the laboratory to real-world impact and create positive societal impacts."

Dr Rattapoom Tuchinda, Deputy Director of the Program Management Unit for Human Resources and Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), stated: "PMU-B's important role is to support people in having opportunities to grow and continuously develop their potential, focusing on developing high-skilled personnel who respond to industrial needs, providing scholarships to support researchers and post-master's and doctoral personnel, as well as supporting advanced research and programs that pair research work with industry and real-world settings, so that knowledge can be practically applied. The Thailand Talent Summit 2025 platform is therefore an important mechanism that helps PMU-B receive direct feedback from scholarship recipients and networks about what factors help them use their full potential and what obstacles hinder their work. This data and suggestions are extremely important in improving and developing scholarship programs to be modern (Adaptive Programs) and responsive to new contexts of the changing world, such as the transition to digital economy and green economy, as well as the promotion of international cooperation, in order to strengthen and create dynamism in the SRI system."

In addition, Thailand Talent Summit 2025 features various activities over three days, including key highlights:
