IDID Makes a Strong Debut with "STEP IT UP" and Global Appeal

IDID, a new boy group formed through Starship's ambitious project 「Debut's Plan」, has captured the attention of K-pop fans worldwide. The group, consisting of Jang Yong-hoon, Kim Min-jae, Park Won-bin, Chu Yoo-chan, Park Sung-hyun, Baek Jun-hyuk, and Jeong Se-min, recently released their pre-debut digital single "STEP IT UP," which is also the lead track from their first mini album, "I did it." The song was officially launched at 6 p.m. on the 24th, marking the beginning of their pre-debut activities.

The group made appearances on several major music shows, starting with Mnet’s "M Countdown" on the day of their pre-debut, followed by KBS 2TV’s "Music Bank" on the 25th, MBC’s "Show on the 26th! From Music Core" on the 26th, and SBS’s "Song Festival Summer" on the 27th. Their performances were highly anticipated and well-received, showcasing their dynamic energy and stage presence.

Ahead of their main stage performance, the members participated in an interview where they shared insights into their group name, the meaning behind their pre-debut song, and the choreography that highlights its core message. They described themselves as a team with a cool, refreshing, and ice-like charm, emphasizing their strong and determined spirit.

During their appearance on "Music Bank," each member took the opportunity to introduce their unique roles within the group. Jang Yong-hoon presented himself as a charismatic leader and Mukjjang, while Kim Min-jae introduced himself as "ID's #1 puppy." Park Won-bin was dubbed "ID's W," and Chu Yoo-chan was recognized for his "strongest lip chu." Park Sung-hyun, known as "Hip-hop cat," and Baek Jun-hyuk, referred to as "Hip-hop shark," brought their distinct styles to the group. Jeong Se-min, the youngest member, showcased his multi-talented abilities, adding to the group’s diverse appeal.

In addition to their individual introductions, the members also demonstrated their potential as future music show hosts by engaging with other idol singers and displaying their growth mindset. Their ability to handle unexpected questions with confidence and humor further highlighted their charisma and readiness for the spotlight.

IDID also had a rare experience on the blue carpet and runway during their pre-debut appearance at the Summer music festival. Dressed in outfits that reflected the festival’s concept, the members greeted global fans in multiple languages, including English, Japanese, and Chinese. Their fresh charm and quick wit during the event left a lasting impression on the audience.

The group’s pre-debut performance of "STEP IT UP" was particularly impressive. Unlike the playful interview segment, the stage performance was powerful and visually captivating. The sophisticated groove, free-spirited yet controlled sword dance, and flawless live vocals immediately won over K-pop fans. The catchy chorus, "Step it up," combined with the highlight dance featuring a finger snap, created a memorable moment. The ending pose, where the members displayed a fresh "Sproutdol" look with a cute expression, further solidified their appeal.

With their successful pre-debut activities, IDID is set to make their official debut on September 15 with their first mini album, "I did it." On the same day, they will hold their first debut showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, continuing their journey as a promising new group in the K-pop industry.
