
Delhi, India – On the second day of the Oriental Cup 2025, held at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, several school teams showcased their skills and determination in a series of competitive matches across both boys’ and girls’ categories. Delhi Public School (DPS), Vasant Kunj emerged as one of the standout teams, securing victories in both matches against Vinay Nagar Bengali Sr Sec School. Their dominance was evident as they claimed wins in both the boys' and girls' categories.
In other matches, DAV Public School, Sahibabad and DPS, RK Puram delivered strong performances in the boys' category, while Government Girls Senior Secondary School impressed with their performance in the girls' category. These results highlighted the growing competitiveness of the tournament, which continues to attract attention from students and sports enthusiasts alike.
Sapphire International School, Noida started the day with a commanding 2-0 win over Tagore International School in the boys' match. Atharv Singh was the hero for Sapphire, scoring both goals. In the girls' match between the same schools, the game ended in a goalless draw during regulation time, but Tagore International School ultimately won 3-2 on penalties.
DPS, Vasant Kunj’s boys’ team secured a 2-0 victory, with Vihaan Mani and Krishna Kumar netting the goals. The girls’ team of DPS, Vasant Kunj displayed their strength by defeating their opponents 4-0. Ayushi Gupta scored twice, while Aisha Nair and Aarna Arora each added a goal to the tally.
DAV Public School, Sahibabad also had a successful day, defeating Father Agnel School, Noida 3-1. Shriansh Nath Tiwari and Sagar Laha were key contributors, while an own goal from Father Agnel’s side sealed the win. Aarav Sharma was the sole scorer for the Noida-based team.
Delhi Public School, RK Puram had a mixed day. Their boys’ team defeated Bluebells School 4-1, with Arhan Gupta scoring twice, and Afraaz Tariq and Jeenesh Vasandani adding one goal each. However, in the girls’ category, Government Girls Senior Secondary School came out on top with a 2-0 win, thanks to goals from Palak and Nidhi.
The Oriental Cup 2025 is set to continue with more knockout matches and second-round fixtures. Day three will feature an exhibition match in the girls’ category between MIMA and STRIVE, followed by a boys’ encounter between DAV Faridabad and St. Francis De Sales Sr Sec School. St. Francis School will also play again in the girls’ category against Navy School. Other matches include Venkateshwar International School vs. Greenfields Public School and Gov. Sarvodaya Co-ed School vs. Heritage Global School in the boys’ category.
Several teams are returning for their second-round fixtures, including the boys’ and girls’ teams from Mother’s International School, Sanskriti International School, and Amity International (Noida), along with The Air Force School, Subroto Park (Boys), and Tagore International School (Girls). This promises another day of intense competition and exciting football action.
Recognized by the Delhi Soccer Association for its contributions to grassroots football, the Oriental Cup has grown into a significant platform for school teams. It offers structured and competitive play in a professional setting, allowing young athletes to gain valuable experience.
