A Remarkable Achievement in the 2025 WASSCE Results

A young boy from Nigeria has captured the attention of many after achieving an outstanding result in the 2025 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Uthman Mustapha Olasubomi, a student at Oritamefa Baptist Model School in Ibadan, Oyo State, secured an A1 grade in nine subjects. His performance was so impressive that it went viral on social media, drawing widespread admiration and support.

Uthman’s results included Mathematics, English Language, Data Processing, Geography, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Technical Drawing, and Civic Education. In addition to his exceptional WASSCE scores, he also achieved an impressive Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) score of 366. These achievements have made him a subject of celebration among family, friends, and even strangers who were inspired by his success.

His uncle, who shared the results online, posted them on his X page under the handle @sama_on_point. The post featured the boy's WAEC result alongside his UTME score. In the caption, the man tagged the X handle of President Bola Tinubu, requesting a $100,000 presidential reward for his nephew. He wrote: “Hello folks. This is my nephew’s (Uthman Mustapha Olasubomi) result. Albert Einstein is a learner! Scholarship plugs, kindly show my nephew some love! @officialABAT, can my boy get some spare $100,000 from you? The woman recounted how she and her sisters paid 257,000 Naira to clear the girl’s debt, allowing her to continue her education and sit for the examination.

In a related development, another student who checked her result shared that she scored her lowest grade in English Language, despite having an A1 in five other subjects. This highlights the varied experiences of students during the 2025 WASSCE.

Meanwhile, a science student’s results also made headlines. James Preston, who posted the results on his Facebook page, shared his sister’s WASSCE result. She scored A1 in two subjects and demonstrated strong performance in other science-related areas.

These stories reflect the diverse journeys of students in Nigeria as they navigate the challenges of the educational system. While some achieve remarkable success, others face obstacles that require community support to overcome. The 2025 WASSCE results have become more than just academic milestones—they are symbols of perseverance, talent, and the power of collective effort.
