Park Seo-jin Shares Story of Scammer and Digital Detox on TV
Park Seo-jin, a well-known singer, recently shared a personal story about a scammer who targeted him using his appearance on a television show. The incident occurred during the 12th anniversary of his debut, which he marked by reflecting on his journey and past struggles.
During an episode of KBS 2TV's "Living Men Season 2," Park Seo-jin revealed how he once had to go through tough times. He decided to take part in a digital detox, which involved not using his mobile phone for a specific period. Before appearing as a solo guest on "Trouble Kids in the Rooftop Room," he placed his phone and that of his younger sister, Hyojung, into an abstinence box with a 7-hour timer. However, the experience was challenging, and he soon felt the urge to use his phone again, causing laughter among those present.
Eventually, Park Seo-jin gave in to the temptation and left the house with Hyojung to visit the rooftop neighborhood where he once lived. This place held special memories for him, as it was where he spent his early days before gaining fame. He explained that this visit was meaningful, especially since it coincided with the 12th anniversary of his debut. "It was the first talk show in my life, so I wanted to have a meaningful time," he said.
While reminiscing about his past, Park Seo-jin recounted a difficult experience involving a scammer. He mentioned that someone approached him, claiming to be a producer from a broadcasting station. The person convinced him to send money, promising a spot on the show. Park Seo-jin lost 1.5 million won, which was all his savings at the time. "If a person is desperate and driven to the edge of a cliff, he will give the money even though he knows it's a fraud. You have to be careful, too," he warned.
The incident led to Park Seo-jin being kicked out of his home and moving to a semi-basement. His sister, Hyojung, expressed admiration for his perseverance. "I knew my brother was having a hard time, but I never thought it would be this hard. Listening to what I didn't know about you made me respect you," she confessed.
As Park Seo-jin walked through the rooftop neighborhood, he felt a sense of pride. Looking down from the rooftop room, he used to think, "If I succeed, a wonderful day will come." Now, he feels proud because he has truly succeeded.
He also visited a galbi restaurant, a place that had been on his mind during his difficult times. "On a gloomy or difficult day, I ate ribs when I wanted to put everything down and go to Samcheonpo," he said. The food that comforted his heart was galbi, and he still holds fond memories of it.
Reflecting on his journey, Park Seo-jin expressed gratitude to his fans and vowed to continue working harder without losing his initial commitment. However, during his later appearance on "The Problematic Children in the Rooftop Room," he kept making people laugh with his mistakes. When asked if he would continue with the digital detox, he smiled and said, "No, I love digital."
Park Seo-jin’s story highlights the challenges he faced and his resilience in overcoming them. His journey serves as an inspiration to many, showing that success often comes after enduring difficult times.
