A Celebration of Rwandan Culture in Jules Sentore’s New Album
Jules Sentore, a prominent figure in Rwanda’s Gakondo music scene, has released a new album titled “Umudende,” which showcases the rich cultural heritage and values of Rwanda. Among the 12 tracks, “Usa n’u Rwanda ft. Icyogere Mubahungu” stands out as the 10th track and one of the most impactful. Over the course of 3 minutes and 36 seconds, the song celebrates the beauty of Rwandan culture, spirit, and achievements, urging listeners to recognize and embrace these elements to their fullest.
The album was launched on August 1, coinciding with the celebration of Umuganura, a traditional festival that highlights Rwanda’s cultural values. The concept of the album is rooted in the idea of “Umudende,” a recent medal of bravery awarded to heroes who bring honor to the nation. It reflects the deep connection between traditional music and the values that define Rwanda, such as fulfilling promises and being honored for it.
