Top dating app/site for gay and bisexual individuals:Taimi

Rating: 5/5

Paid membership features: Send likes without blurring, view who has liked you, find matching profiles, and enjoy additional benefits.
Global user count: 29 million.
Minimum age: 18 years and older, no upper limit.
Inclusivity: Welcoming to non-binary, genderfluid and transgender people, as well as the broader queer community.
Taimi It's more than just a dating application, it's an acknowledgment of the entire LGBTQ+ community, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals, as well as all the identities that fall in between. With millions of users around the globe, it's a place where every identity, attraction, and type of relationship is accepted. After all, love isn't a one-size-fits-all, so why should the search for it be?
Unlike other applications that simply connect you with others, Taimi allows you to share narratives and tailor your feed completely. ImagineInstagramconnects with Hinge, but with a LGBTQ+ friendly variation.
Privacy is a major concern here. You have full control over who views your photos and videos, which is essential for the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, their AI Finder feature connects you with truly suitable individuals, not only according to your stated preferences but also your activity within the app. In other words: no more people who share too much and those who disappear weekly.
Next is Taimi Explore, which turns the world into your dating arena. Whether you're traveling with a new partner or looking for a charming redhead to meet up withdrinks in ParisThe application is suitable for casual encounters, forming new friendships, or potentially long-term relationships.
Top platforms for casual dating among gay and bisexual individuals:Tinder
Tested by: Fleurine Tideman
Rating: 3/5
Price: The service is free with optional upgrades. Premium plans range from £1.92 to £14.32 per month.
Paid membership plans: Tinder Plus, Gold, and Platinum offer a variety of features that can significantly impact your dating experience, including unlimited likes, the ability to go back, boosts, priority matching, and other benefits.
Global user count: More than 75 million users.
Age group: Minimum age is 18, with no upper limit. They have observed that the majority of users fall within the 18 to 34 years old range.
Inclusivity: Tinderoffers more than 50 gender identities and 9 sexual orientations, with the ability for users to modify these whenever needed. Choice to include your pronouns in your biography.
One of Tinder's major advantages? Its large number of users. This app was the one that started the entire swiping trend, and indeed, it had us all mindlessly swiping left and right. These days, it's often seen as a place for casual dating—meaning: situationships—but that's not the full story. I've met many people on Tinder who were looking for something more serious, and some of those meetings even led to second, third, and yes, fourth dates.
For LGBTQ+ users, Tinder offers a range of inclusive features to enhance your dating experience. However, what really catches my attention is Tinder's new Double Date function. You can pair up with your best friend for a date, and there are no limitations regarding your gender or your crush's. As a bisexual woman, I could go on a date with my gay male friend, and each of us would be matched with someone perfectly suited—him with a man, me with someone of any gender. A bit chaotic? Perhaps. Definitely enjoyable? Definitely.
The app maintains a traditional swipe-based interface, although the profiles contain less information than on certain other apps. Nevertheless, Tinder is gradually introducing more questions, following Hinge's approach, which could help improve your bio.
Top dating app or website for gay and bisexual men:Grindr
Tested by: Fleurine Tideman and a companion
Rating: 3/5
Cost: Free version available, Grindr XTRA at £17.49 monthly, or Grindr Unlimited at £34.99 monthly
Paid subscription plans: Grindr XTRA: Ad-free experience, option to view up to 600 profiles, saved message phrases, read receipts, 5 temporary photos daily, enhanced Album features, and access to Grindr Web. Grindr Unlimited includes all of these, plus private mode, chat translation, and the highly requested feature to retract messages.
Global user count: 13.5 million monthly active users.
Minimum age: 18 years and above. Notably, it is very popular among men aged fifty and older in the UK.
Inclusivity: Options for gender identity, preferred pronouns, and transgender-friendly features. Furthermore, Grindr for Equality collaborates with groups to advance LGBTQ+ rights and health programs worldwide.
First things first: Grindr It's not only for men looking for men—surprise! The app promotes itself as the world's biggest social platform for gay, bi, trans, and queer individuals. That being said, the number of queer women on the app is... let's just say, limited. The photo quality seemed a bit outdated, from 2012, and most profiles didn't reveal much beyond a face and perhaps an emoji. As a bisexual woman, I also found it difficult to connect with men who were interested in women, which felt quite restrictive.
As I'm clearly not Grindr's target audience—despite the app's assertions of being inclusive—I asked a gay male friend to test the app thoroughly. His experience was completely different from mine. For him, Grindr provided an endless selection of matches, and he has been using it for years. Still, he acknowledges that it's not really designed for long-term relationships.
Currently in his thirties, he utilizes Hinge in combination with Grindr, noting that the latter remains excellent for casual encounters but isn't necessarily a path to a committed relationship. "It's all about appearance," he mentioned, "and the conversation tends to become sexual within around 30 seconds." Therefore, if you're looking for something enjoyable and quick, Grindr still holds the top spot, but if you're searching for The One, you might need to keep looking.
We both also found the location feature a bit… overwhelming. It can seem a bit too transparent, displaying people precisely where you are (or nearly) within your neighborhood. Perfect for impromptu encounters, but not so ideal for confidentiality.
Top dating apps/sites for gay and bisexual individuals starting out:Match
Tested by: Fleurine Tideman
Rating: 4/5
Cost: Begins at £9.99 each month, with reduced rates for extended periods.
Premium subscription plans: By opting for a paid membership, you can send and receive an unlimited number of messages, get priority access to in-person events, enhance your profile, and enjoy additional benefits.
Global user count: More than 2.5 million effective matches in the UK, and 15 million worldwide.
Minimum age: 18 and older, though the target audience is generally older. I suggest it for gay and bisexual individuals in their thirties and beyond.
Inclusivity: More than two dozen gender choices, along with the option to indicate interest in multiple identities.
Let's focus on one of theUK’s biggest dating sitesand observe how it compares to the LGBTQ+ community.Match It's intriguing as it combines features from both Tinder and eHarmony. You view one profile at a time and can swipe or move on. However, unlike those applications, Match provides extensive information right away, including interests, hobbies, and lifestyle details. Profiles are very customizable, allowing you to display photos, topics, and your unique traits to draw in the right individuals. I appreciated the tailored suggestions based on my preferences and essential criteria—though, to be honest, I'm not sure if I should date another fan of Taylor Swift!
Match is beneficial for individuals who have been in long-term relationships, but it also comes with some peculiarities. The design appears old-fashioned, the site can be sluggish, and the filtering features aren't consistently effective. Certain users have encountered fake accounts and fraudulent activities — although I didn't face this personally. I noticed a few recognizable profiles from Hinge and Bumble, which gave me the impression that I was paying to connect with people I could have met for free elsewhere.
Due to its widespread appeal, I never lacked for matches, which was certainly nice. However, many of the matches were older than the age range I specified, so if you're seeking someone in their twenties, this might not be the ideal platform. The user experience also had some drawbacks—ads appear often, and the design can seem a bit cluttered, making the overall browsing experience less pleasant over time.
Knowing who has looked at your profile can be pleasing, but it also implies that others can see if you've checked theirs… without sending a message. This leads to uncomfortable follow-up messages from users you weren't interested in — definitely not the atmosphere you want.

Top dating app/site for non-conforming relationships:Feeld
Tested by: Fleurine Tideman
Rating: 5/5
Cost: Free Access or Majestic Membership priced at £24.99 per month, £42.99 for 90 days, or £149.99 annually.
Paid subscription plans: Majestic Membership gives you access to Incognito Mode, Pings, Uplift, Advanced Search Filters, Profile Boost, and additional features.
Global user count: More than 2 million users across the world
Eligibility: Open to individuals 18 years and older. Most Feeld users fall within the age range of 25 to 40, with an average age of approximately 29.
Diversity: Feeld is dedicated to promoting inclusivity, embracing a wide range of identities and relationship types, such as Ethical Non-Monogamy (ENM), Polyamory, Kink and BDSM, and LGBTQ+ communities. It serves as an authentic safe environment.
I really likeFeeld, and I’m constantly amazed it remains unnoticed! To start with: this isn't just a place for wild, adventurous,50 Shades- style escapades — although if that's your thing, you'll surely find your people here. You can specify your sexual preferences and fetishes to get precisely what you're looking for, from threesomes (MMF, FFM, MMM, FFF, or any other mix of letters!) to consensual non-monogamy and more.
Regarding ENM, couples have the ability to set up connected profiles for complete transparency, allowing them to date with each other or individually. This degree of openness is uncommon among dating apps and contributes significantly to Feeld's appeal.
Even if you're seeking queer monogamous relationships, Feeld draws in many open-minded individuals who appreciate a distinct approach to dating. The profiles tend to be more genuine, with less emphasis on being humorous or sharing numerous selfies. However, it's worth noting that there are often fewer photos or they may be more anonymous, as users prioritize their privacy. Conversations can also become sexual more quickly compared to other apps, so it's important to be aware of this before getting involved. Feeld doesn't rely on the same algorithm-based matching system as other platforms, which means it might take longer to find someone with similar goals.
Top dating app or website for gay and bisexual individuals:BiCupid
Tested by: Fleurine Tideman
Rating: 4/5
Cost: Free option or a paid plan available at £32.99 for one month, £106.99 for six months, or £122.99 for an annual subscription.
Paid subscription plans: Premium membership offers benefits such as viewing all images, utilizing advanced search options, and additional perks.
Global user count: More than 3 million members across the world, as stated by the site.
Minimum age: 18 years and older, although the majority of active users are between the ages of twenty-five and thirty.
Diversity: BiCupid specifically caters to individuals who identify as bisexual, those who are bi-curious, and people interested in exploring bisexual relationships.
You may have come across OkCupid, which is a good platform for LGBTQ+ singles. However, as a bisexual woman, I needed to explore other options.BiCupidA platform focused on bisexual, bi-curious, and those who are exploring the spectrum. Don't be misled by the name: it's inclusive of lesbians, gay individuals, trans, queer people, and anyone still discovering their identity.
One of the initial aspects I observed was the app's strong support for ethical non-monogamy. Couples have the ability to set up connected profiles, and there are options for threesomes — although referring to participants as "unicorns" isn't universally well-received. BiCupid also provides detailed filters, 10 various privacy settings, and even video calling features.
Instead of swiping, BiCupid relies on an algorithm that connects users according to their interests and personalities. In reality, it seems somewhat outdated. The user interface could benefit from an update, and several of the matches made me question whether the algorithm was more focused on who paid for VIP status rather than genuine compatibility.
In conclusion, the site is still expanding, which means the user base, particularly in the UK, remains somewhat small. It's worth checking out if you're interested, but don't anticipate the same level of popularity as Tinder or Taimi.
Top gay and bisexual dating app/site for sapphics:HER
Tested by: Fleurine Tideman
Rating: 5/5
Cost: Free edition and paid version at £13.99 per month
Paid membership plans: Upgrading to a premium version provides you with unlimited swipes, a commercial-free environment, enhanced search options, the chance to view who looks at your profile, private browsing, the option to go back, and additional features.
Global user count: More than 13 million users across the world.
Minimum age: 18 years and older. Most users fall within the age range of mid-20s to late 30s.
Inclusivity: Tailored exclusively for queer women, non-binary individuals, and transgender people. It provides a wide range of gender and sexual orientation options.
HER is well-known for its thorough screening process, aimed at eliminating fake profiles and individuals who aren't prepared to show respect to others. That being said, there is a strong emphasis on connecting your profile with social media accounts. While you can still use the app without this, certain features may seem somewhat restricted if you don't go through this verification, which is not perfect for those who wish to keep their dating life separate from their social media.
HER also simplifies showcasing your values via Pride Pins, so possible matches instantly recognize if you're QPOC, T4T, chapstick, or masc lesbians, intersex, and beyond. You can also display your love language, political perspectives, and other personal information to create more meaningful connections.
A notable aspect is how seamlessly HER allows you to modify your gender identity. They also provide an FAQ that outlines how straightforward the process is. This is a positive contrast to Bumble or Hinge, where users occasionally report, "If you select the wrong gender, they don't let you change it!" Regardless of whether this is accurate, HER manages the situation with ease.
In conclusion, HER is filled with informative material, ideal for those new to the sapphic way of life. The app recognizes that each person uncovers their identity at their own speed. No matter your age—twenties, thirties, forties, or older—it's never too late to discover more.
Top dating app/site for serious relationships among gay and bisexual individuals:eHarmony
Tested by: Fleurine Tideman
Rating: 3/5
Cost: A free option is available, or a Premium plan, with the cost varying based on the membership duration. For instance, it costs £25.99 per month for a 6-month subscription or £9.90 per month for a 24-month subscription.
Premium subscription plans: Offers unlimited communication, complete access to photos, advanced search features, and the option to view who has looked at your profile.
Global user count: Around 30 million.
Minimum age: 18 years and above, but widely appreciated by people of all ages.
Inclusiveness: Three gender choices (male, female, and non-binary) allowing you to choose multiple genders as your dating preference.
Interestingly, eHarmony has always had a reputation for attracting an older demographic — and although love knows no age, it's now gaining popularity among Generation Z and Millennials. I quickly connected with people my age on the app (I'm 28, just to clarify).
The main appeal of eHarmony its advanced matching system. You begin with an in-depth survey that explores your personality, beliefs, and dating expectations before presenting you with carefully selected matches. Each one comes with a brief explanation; for example, "both of you prioritize emotional honesty" or "you both approach disagreements in a similar way." To be honest, the effort required to complete the quiz makes it unlikely that you'll encounter someone seeking just a casual encounter.
Here's the thing, though: in my eHarmony review, I gave them four out of five stars, but I'm slightly lowering my rating here. Although you can express interest in men, women, and non-binary individuals, I was mostly matched with men. It's unclear if this is due to a smaller number of queer users or simply an abundance of male profiles, but it makes the experience less satisfying for LGBTQ+ users, feeling more like a small pond than a vast ocean of choices.
Our verdict
Many contemporary dating applications have made significant progress in embracing LGBTQ+ individuals, offering a wide range of gender and sexual orientation choices. The real challenge, however, is locating where your community truly resides, as let's be honest, some platforms can feel like entering a heterosexual bar during rush hour.
In general, Taimi ranks first due to its ease of use and welcoming community atmosphere throughout the entire LGBTQIA+ range. HER excels for those interested in sapphic dating, whereas Feeld is ideal for individuals seeking to connect with open-minded and adventurous people.
FAQS
Are dating applications exclusively for heterosexual individuals?
Absolutely not! Many dating apps today allow you to select the type of matches you're interested in, whether it's the same gender, a different one, or a mix. You can simply modify your settings to suit what you're seeking (or what you're eager to discover). Dating apps have evolved significantly, and there's a wide range of options for all kinds of relationships.
Is Grindr exclusively for casual encounters?
That's certainly the image it has developed over time, and to be honest, it's not completely unwarranted. The absence of facial photographs and limited profiles suggests that many users aren't looking for "the one." Although some individuals use Grindr for real relationships, it's likely not the best choice for something serious. If you're seeking a more substantial connection, consider Taimi, eHarmony, or Match instead.
What are the top dating platforms for queer polyamorous individuals?
If you're interested in learning more about ethical non-monogamy, Feeld is the top choice. You can connect your profile with your partner and decide to date together, individually, or a mix of both. The app allows you to clearly state your intentions through tags, making it easier to find people who share your views without unnecessary conversation. Another excellent option is BiCupid, which has gained popularity among those seeking open relationships or polyamorous connections. It emphasizes honesty, openness, and connecting with individuals who understand your lifestyle.
