Nairobi- Moses Kuria, who previously served as an economic advisor to President William Ruto, has strongly criticized Kimani Ichung'wah, the leader of the majority in the National Assembly.

On Monday, July 21, a viral video surfaced showing Ichung'wah making offensive remarks and unacceptable statements directed at Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, the wife of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
What did Kimani Ichung'wah express regarding Pastor Dorcas?
In a video, Ichung’wah dismissed Gachagua's 'wantam' slogan as just a domestic expression and claimed that Gachagua valued politics more than his connection with Pastor Dorcas.
The Kikuyu MP, during an empowerment event in Kajiado Central, humorously suggested that Gachagua's marriage might also be short-lived.
However, Ichung'wah's remarks regarding Gachagua's marriage caused public anger and negative reactions on social media, with many describing them as disrespectful and unsuitable.
What was the reason Moses Kuria criticized Kimani Ichung'wah?
The previous Trade Cabinet Secretary released a message on X (formerly known as Twitter) to criticize Ichung'wah's contentious comments.
In a tweet, Kuria stated that the Kikuyu representative was completely inappropriate in bringing Pastor Dorcas into the controversy merely due to an error committed by the previous DP.
As per Kuria, families should remain untouched by political conflicts, considering the 2027 election could be intense and violent.
"When Rigathi Gachagua stated that President Ruto instructed him not to bring his wife along to the National Prayer Breakfast because Mama Rachael was absent, I publicly criticized him on national television for being petty. Similarly, Hon Kimani Ichung'wah is completely out of line for bringing Pastor Dorcas Rigathi into disrepute solely because of her husband. As the next stage of this conflict will be brutal and intense, let us establish our own version of the Geneva Convention. Let us keep families away from politics!" Kuria said.
Some Kenyans also used social media to criticize Ichung'wah's comments.
Zachary Theuri:
This is going too far, mambo ya wamama where are you? Muchene, your mother's children.
Dan Kabaya:
You didn't need to involve Riggy G in this comment! Simply address Ichung'wah....Families, even outside of politics, are a forbidden area! Unspoken male rules.
Kavuli Bernard Kamau:
Positive news! Voters in Kikuyu Constituency are gathering signatures to remove their MP, Kimani Ichung’wah.
How Ichung'wah, Gachagua differed
As previously reported, Ichung'wah and Gachagua have been engaging in verbal exchanges regarding recent Gen Z protests.
A former Mathira legislative representative alleged that Ichung'wah and President William Ruto were orchestrating incidents of violence during the recent Gen Z demonstrations in Kenya.
However, Ichung'wah released a statement rejecting the allegations, which he described as baseless and harmful.
Ichung'wah, a close associate of the president, alleged that the former deputy president fabricated falsehoods to divert focus from his own political decline and suspected involvement in inciting chaos.
Were demonstrators directing their actions towards Ichung'wah's parents?
During an emotional and tense session on Wednesday, July 9, in the afternoon, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah stood up in the chamber, visibly angry.
In a fiercely intense speech to the House that lasted almost 45 minutes, Ichung'wah dramatically alleged that Gachagua and his group employed thugs to attack his family during the Saba Saba demonstrations on June 7.
Among the individuals attacked by the thugs, as stated by Ichung'wah, were his parents.
The leader of the majority in the National Assembly stated that his parents narrowly escaped an arson incident.
He claimed his supposed political adversaries were driven by revenge and resentment.
Ichung'wah informed the House that his opponents, led by the former DP, were determined to suppress him by any means, calling them "vindictive individuals with sinister intentions."
Nevertheless, Gachagua quickly refuted Ichung'wah's claims, asserting that no individual within his team had intended violence or considered harming anyone's family.
Gachagua alleged that the Kikuyu politician was stirring up feelings to gain public compassion.
Masolo Mabonga, Head of Department for Current Affairs and Politics, revised this article to include information about the suspected arson attack targeting the parents of Kimani Ichung'wah.
