1Comrade Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, a core activist of the Leftist Movement, is a former chieftain of the National Conscience Party (NCP), ex-State Chairman, the African Action Congress (AAC) in Lagos State. Ajayi, a 2020 governorship aspirant of the party in Ondo State, was also the party’s candidate in the last governorship election in Ondo State. He spoke to EJIKEME OMENAZU on the coming together of radical forces to wrestle poer fron the All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2027, among other crucial issues. Excerpt:
The African Action Congress (AAC) National Leader, Omoyele Sowore, has recently faced attacks, including theft of his eyeglasses, arrest and detention by the men of the Nigerian Police. What is your reaction to what some civil society groups refer to as a clear case of persecution?
The multiple arrests of Sowore shows that the ruling class is afraid of the ideas he espouses. That is why the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has sued him for mutiny over the Police protests. They know that Sowore and the TakeItBack Movement (TIM) have unraveled and exposed their base-weaknesses and have educated the rank and file of the police and military forces on their rights and how to fight for same. It is clear the TInubu regime is afraid that Sowore and the revolutionaries are fulfilling vital pages of the necessary revolution to rebuild Nigeria!
What is your take on the coming together of the opposition under the African Democratic Coalition (ADC) coalition?
It is an attempt to distract the People’s Revolution! Some elements that have lost out of the national cake sharing are the ones behind the ADC coalition. And then, you have a few who are defenders of the current system against the extremism of the TInubu regime.
Do you see the ADC coalition as being able to defeat President Bola Tinubu and the APC in 2027?
Even if they defeat the TInubu regime, they will only be continuing and advancing the roguery and impunity of the Tinubu ruinous regime. It is the coalition of the same set of anti-people elements. The only coalition that can defeat the TInubu regime, its hegemony, and the ruinous ruling class is the Coalition Of the Oppressed (COOP). That Coalition will bring together all the radical and real change-seeking forces across the length and breadth of Nigeria. COOP tested waters with the #PoliceProtests and you could see the swiftness of the Dan Bello-led Northern Comrades too. It includes #EndSARS; #EndBadGovernance; Workers Leaders; Left Groups, Veterans and the Civil Society. COOP will also have radical forces from Biafra, Mekunu Koya, Middle Belt, Shiites, and the likes. The people’s coalition is the way forward, and the time to defeat the Naija ruining class is now!
What do you consider the major challenges of the opposition coalition in its vision of taking over government in 2027?
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the use of violence in elections are challenges, but they are not major for the People’s Coalition. COOP’s major challenge is rebuilding the revolutionary momentum to the extent that the regime must have been in shatters before the elections. This will be a combination of organizing, building, and fighting. Massive resources must be generated to erect radical spreads.
Apart from the APC and the emerging ADC coalition, do you think Nigerians have any other alternative to choose from come 2027?
The AAC is the party of the Peoples’ Coalition. That is the party with a genuine and comprehensive manifesto as well as a revolutionary plan for the building of the Nigeria of our dream and the redistribution of the nation’s wealth.
A section of the Northern political elite has been accusing President Bola Tinubu of marginalising the region. How do you see this allegation?
President Tinubu has been marginalising the masses across Nigeria, not only the North. It is a national attack on the people!
Would you say President Tinubu has been nepostic in appointments and projects in favour of South West to the detriment of the other regions?
Tinubu’s nepotism is what it is; an energiser for dividing the masses and continuing its rogue ruling. It is the strategy of the rulers overtime. Buhari did same.
With the way the current administration is borrowing, do you see any hope for Nigerians?
There is no hope in this regime. It is a hopelessness embedded in private and extreme capitalism that is imposed on Nigerians. They take loans to steal. All the money Buhari borrowed, wetin Nigerians gain? Now, Tinubu has taken 10 times of the Buhari loans from both local and international financial institutions. It will all still be stolen and Nigerians will gain nothing. Meanwhile, we have no business borrowing with the kind of resources we have in Nigeria. It is just that the elements in government are neo-liberal faithful whose major interest is to transfer the public wealth into private pockets.
After two years of the Tinubu administration, he has not been able to appoint ambassadors for the nation’s foreign missions. How do you see this situation?
Well, he is already doing the ambassadorial works in his global junketing. The Tinubu regime is not only irresponsible and anti-people; it is also clownish.
A cross section of Nigerians believe that President Bola Tinubu and the ruling APC cannot be defeated in 2027 no matter the type of political alliances going on across the country. Do you believe so too?
The rogue alliances will not defeat Tinubu in 2027, but there is a gigantic alliance of the radicals and the people that will ultimately defeat President Tinubu and his hegemony. Tinubu’s cowing and bullying of the bourgeois opposition is good news for the incoming peoples’ alliance. He is only paving the way for the true alliance of workers, students, youths, and revolutionaries!
Would you agree with the notion that APC has been fueling crises in other political parties? If no, what do you think is its motive and how far can the ruling party go in this?
The APC is only using the old script of creating a controlled opposition. They fuel crises on other like parties for their own gains. This is normal as they share the same ideals with these parties actually. So, the motive is to be both the ruling and opposition party at the same time and create a very strong hegemony. Tinubu has been practising the system of controlling the oppo¬sition since, in Lagos State. He created the Obanikoro and Agbaje as opposition figures against APC thus far. And that is why he has been on a free game in La¬gos State. In 2023 elections too, I believe the TInubu hegemony also helped the rising of the Peter Obi’s Labour Party in order to deny Atiku of the traditional PDP bases in the South East and North Central, while also winning over the radical youths of the EndSARS fall-out who would have naturally supported AAC’s Omoyele Sowore. So, it is a game the TInubu hegemony is well breasted in. But, like I told you, these games will soon fall like packs of cards. The people will soon rise and defeat this ruinous government!
How do you see the various reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s adminis¬tration?
These are not reforms, but anti-people policies meant to keep Nigerians very poor. Since Tinubu became president, the average Nigerian has become poorer. Which kind reforms be these? Nigerians should rise to defeat the Tinubu hegemony as it means massive backwardness for the people and a great destructive pull
The incumbent Anambra State governor has been receiving endorsements by different groups in the state. Do you think any other candidate stands a chance in the coming governorship election in the state?
Of course, Chioma Grace Ifemeludike, the AAC governorship candidate, is coming to rescue Anambra from the hands of the ruiners who have been in government all these while. Soludo has failed to transform Anambra to the Dubai of Africa as he promised in the last elections. He is a joker and an irresponsible governor whose interest is acquiring power and building hegemonies. Chioma of African Action Congress (AAC) is the best candidate in the Anambra State gubernatorial election. Her activities and pro-people politics show that she will be the best Anambra governor ever once elected!
